When you think about sewing a dress, what are the first thoughts that you have? Are you thinking how difficult this is going to be or are you thinking that you just can't wait to get started?

Why would you wear a dress? Why wouldn't you just buy any dress in the store? It would be a lot easier than sewing, right?
Do you sew dresses because you really love to sew? Again, isn't it deeper than just the love of sewing? All kinds of things can get sewn that are as useful as dresses.
Maybe you sew dresses because you believe that it saves money. If you would add up the money it costs to buy fabric and patterns and notions, and then add the hours it takes to make one dress, does it really save money?
Going deeper with the why in sewing your own dresses could look like this. That wearing dresses means you are showing those around you are not afraid to be feminine. Being feminine is how God created us as women and He meant it to be that way.
Sewing your own dresses gives you the control over the modesty of the dress and making something that fits you in particular so that it looks beautiful on you. It gives you control over the style of the dress and the type of fabric used.
Sewing your own dresses gives a good outlet for creativity plus gives you something to wear.
Once you have found your "why", write it down. Then, put it somewhere so that you can read it the next time you sew a dress.
And then you can say to yourself, that's right, this is why I sew dresses for myself. Now you don't need to feel bogged down with the "Have too's" and the "I should's". No, now there is a reason that makes sense and that you can go by every time you need to sew.
Find your why in sewing your own dresses, write it down and remind yourself of the why every time you get ready to sew. This will empower you to keep going and be motivated and inspired to sew again and again.
