What inspires you to enter your sewing room? (If you don’t have a sewing room maybe you enter the dream one in your mind.) 😊
Do you have a list of projects you would like to do but never get to? I sure do! One of them is a blanket for my six-year old. And he reminds me of it occasionally which of course makes me feel guilty that I haven’t got to it yet. 😑
So how to get these things done? And if I would actually get my whole list of projects completed would that be any good? But then, I’m not sure if I really would get the whole list done because I keep adding to it. 😄
And really, having a list keeps me motivated.
It’s like having children to take care of motivates me to get things done when they are well occupied or out of my care for a couple hours.
So I really think having a list of sewing projects to do keeps some motivation going because it’s something to work towards.
How about your sewing interests? Have they changed over the years?
Mine sure have! I have always loved to sew and for quite awhile sewing quilts or table runners and that type of thing interested me way more than sewing dresses. But since I have opened this pattern shop, sewing dresses has become far more interesting to me.
A lot of it though too is that it all takes creativity. And I love creativity! That’s why cleaning house is put on the back burner so many times! 😱 I guess I will have to be creative and come up with some interesting and creative ways to clean house! 😄
Another thing that helps a lot in getting projects accomplished is a clean organized sewing space. Even if it has to be the kitchen table! This came really clear to me the other day.
We have a play room for the children on the top floor of our house and one day I took my little boys up there and we cleaned that place up! Setting a timer really makes them work fast! 😉
After things were in order I went back downstairs and the boys stayed up there and played. I took note of that and realized that every time the play room gets cleaned, it gets used more. Once it gets too messy for some reason everyone plays on the main floor again! 🤷♀️
But the main floor gets cleaned up every day, unlike the play room. So what does that tell me? That a clean space promotes creativity! 🤯 Why have I never fully realized that before?
So if you find your creative mind a little out of gear, maybe your sewing space needs to be cleaned up or reorganized. You might be surprised that your creative gears start turning a little faster. 😊
Another thing I might do is to write a list of the projects I want to get done and listing them from most important- like if dresses are needed- to least important-like a wall quilt. Also, setting a goal for the completion of a project can inspire more motivation in getting it completed.
Here is a quote I found that I like to remind myself of to get some of this in the right perspective. 😊
There are a few thoughts to you from my sewing room! I hope you feel a little more inspired to get to that project that haunts the back of your mind and get it completed!
Let me know what inspirations you have by leaving me a note in the comments below! 😊
I wanted to thank you for this excellent read!! I absolutely loved every little bit of it. I have got you saved as a favorite to check out new stuff you post…
So glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your interest!
I really like your blog today! But I can't read the inspiring quote you added at the bottom. It came blank to me. A very interesting blog still! I like to start with a cleaned up area myself whatever project I am doing!
Thanks for that!😊 I checked out the quote issue and updated it so you should be able to see it now.
